From a Converted Battery Charger

This project was to make a cheap and functional bench power supply. Now completed it is proving to be very useful for developing other projects. It is based on a battery charger which is retained switching the leads.

The building blocks the make up the power supply are

a) The AC mains power to DC conversion stage, commonly known as the power supply

b) Voltage Regulators with Current Limits

c) Voltage and Current Metering and Selection

d) Voltage adjustment

e) Voltage output

f) Cabinet and mechanical hardware

Current limit adjustment and overlaod indication were also considered although have not been included with the first design.

This picture shows the front panel. Obviously a modified ARLEC BC581 battery charger.
